About

You deserve to know what your Government is doing. You deserve to know who your Congressional Representatives are meeting with, how the federal budget is divided up, how laws are being crafted, and more. New advances in technology have given us the opportunity to open up government like never before, from simple changes like requiring all bills to be posted to the Internet at least 72 hours before a vote, to publishing all meetings with lobbyists and interest groups.

To begin this process, Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) founded the Bipartisan Transparency Caucus. Based on the simple idea that all Americans have the right to know exactly what their government is doing and how their tax dollars are being spent, the Transparency Caucus seeks to enact legislation that will bring openness and accessibility to the federal government. Rep. Quigley believes in the words of Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, who wrote that "sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants."
